This January recruitment period proves to be a time of feverish speculation and possible major moves. Several prominent players find themselves linked with moves out of their current teams. We examine a selection of the top names who might be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's failure to reach the AFCON, this has left the forward in contention, reports suggest a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a £65 million release clause applicable for a brief window at the start of the month. Latest developments indicate the Premier League champions have emerged as his signature. Former interested parties like Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have moved on to alternative options, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

This England defender has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a summer transfer to Anfield collapsing. With his deal set to expire in the summer, January is the London club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. A host of elite sides, such as City and multiple European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a winter departure remains unlikely, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Spurs this term. Despite being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, Johnson has started only a handful of Premier League games. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the right price, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. The Cherries appear to be at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an inquiry.

R. Neves

The Portuguese playmaker might be set for a return to the English top flight following a period in Saudi Arabia. Now just 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer, he represents a possible opportunity. Teams such as Manchester United and Liverpool are linked with the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there are suggestions from Spanish media that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The experienced German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça under the manager Flick. After fallen out of favour and had surgery, a January departure looks increasingly likely. Aston Villa were once linked as a possible suitor, but that option now appears off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly showing interest in the keeper.

I. Toney

The prolific England centre-forward has continued scoring frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling chances of being in the England World Cup. But, arranging a deal poses significant hurdles. Al-Ahli are reluctant to sell him, and his alleged enormous weekly wages render any move difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

The energetic midfielder attracted considerable attention in the off-season but stayed at Atlético. H. Elliott

Although excelling and winning the best player award at the U21 Euros in the summer, the young midfielder has struggled for minutes on loan at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has stated the loan move will not be made permanent. Because of specific rules about representing two clubs in a campaign, a return to his parent club prior to next summer seems to be the sole viable solution.

K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey forward has been in excellent form for the Italian giants this season. As his existing deal nearing its end, many English clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but are in a race to keep one of the continent's most promising prospects.

K. Smit

This much-admired Dutch midfielder has earned comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar first team. The teenager is widely expected to complete a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle are believed to be frontrunners, but could face strong competition from the Spanish champions for a signing valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
